Thailand, the land of Buddhist divinities
Just like the great Vishnu, who travelled on the back of his “mount” – the mythical bird Garuda – European travellers can reach Thailand, the land of Buddhist divinities, on the wings of modern airliners.
Incorporated into Thai landscape are countless temple roofs covered with shimmering gold – they introduce us to the mysteries of the local culture, in which religion plays a considerable role. Extensive wats (religious complexes) and bots (monastery buildings) captivate us with their splendour and exotic beauty. Proudly dominating over them are towers called chedi or prang. All architectural details display unusual skills of the artists.

Monumental columns, high stairs, carved window frames, doors and ceramic dragons inhabiting roofs let no one pass by indifferently and leave no doubt as to the fact that the place is devoted to a divinity.
The temples’ interiors are filled with incense, and among the fragrant fumes and candlelight loom majestic Buddha monuments. The most beautiful wats are located in the historical parks of the former Thai capitals: Sukhotai and Chaing Mai.
After such a huge dose of cultural and religious experiences, it is advisable to rest on one of the picturesque Thai beaches where, apart from direct contact with nature, we can experience the luxurious atmosphere of seaside hotels and restaurants. Nothing soothes as much as a savoury meal, most preferably among friendly locals. The additional advantage is the Thai’s fondness and ability of eating well and feasting on the slightest pretext. After a visit in Thailand we will surely cease to associate rice, the local khao, with a white grain of a barely interesting taste, since we are to get to know it’s truly royal incarnations.
The duty of each tourist who has eaten their fill is to get acquainted with traditional local performances – the famous Thai ballet. The actors are both performers and dancers. Even if you resist the charm of one the country’s ancient legends making up the main theme of the performance, the smile of a beautiful, black-eyed dancer will certainly win you.
